We are drawn to honest connection, beautiful light and moments that cannot be recreated.
Treehouse 1987 grew from our belief that wedding photography should do more than show how a celebration looked. It should bring you back to how it felt. The anticipation before the ceremony, the laughter around the table, the emotion in your family’s faces and everything unfolding quietly in between.
Because we work together intuitively, we can tell the same story from two complementary perspectives. While one of us photographs the moment everyone sees, the other is often preserving the reaction you never knew happened.
At the heart of our work
Marriage matters. The photographs should, too.
How we got here
Two creative paths became one.
2014
Chris chose photography
After studying international trade and programming, Chris followed a different calling and began working professionally as a photographer. His approach became centered on storytelling, emotion and the beauty of unscripted moments.
2018
Our stories met
Karla brought her background in interior design and photography, along with a natural eye for composition, balance and detail. Our different creative strengths quickly became a shared way of seeing.
2021
We became a family
We exchanged vows and began building a life shaped by faith, creativity and family. Today, our two daughters continually remind us why preserving the people we love matters so deeply.
Today
We tell stories between two homes
Our family is now based in Japan while Treehouse 1987 returns to Costa Rica for a limited number of destination weddings from January through March. Every celebration is personally prepared, photographed and edited with the same care that shaped the work from the beginning.
