Tamarindo Wedding Photographer

Tamarindo is the beach that made Guanacaste famous, and for good reason. A wide golden shore that curves for over two kilometers, sunsets that turn the whole sky pink, restaurants and hotels for every kind of guest, and a town small enough to walk from end to end.

We have been photographing weddings on this beach for more than ten years. We know its light, its corners and its rhythm by heart

Why We Love Photographing Here

Tamarindo works for every kind of wedding. Barefoot elopements at dawn, intimate villa ceremonies at sunset, big celebrations spilling out of beach hotels into the sand. And no matter the size, the town wraps around your guests so completely that the whole week feels like a shared vacation.

For a photography team, Tamarindo offers something rare: variety within a five minute walk. Long open beach, mangroves at the estuary, tropical gardens inside the hotels, colorful town streets for casual portraits, and the quieter cove of Playa Langosta just next door when we want privacy.

The Light Guide

  • Morning: soft, warm light from the east. Beautiful for getting ready photos in beachfront suites, and for sunrise sessions on days when couples want the beach entirely to themselves.

  • Midday: strong and direct. We work in the shade of the palms and hotel gardens during this window.

  • 4 pm to sunset: this is why couples come to Tamarindo. The beach faces west and the sunsets here are among the most reliable and cinematic in Costa Rica. Ceremonies at 4:30 pm during dry season land perfectly.

  • Sunset itself: the north end of the beach near the estuary empties out and becomes ours for portraits.

  • Blue hour: the town's warm lights and beachfront bars turn on. Perfect for the walking portrait couples never think to ask for.

Planning Your Photography Timeline

Tamarindo's compact size is a gift for photographers. No long transfers between locations. We recommend a first look 1 hour before the ceremony (soft light, no rush), ceremony at 4:30 pm in dry season, cocktail hour candids while we work with you for 20 minutes on portraits, and a final 10 minutes at sunset. If your guests stay in town, we love adding welcome dinner coverage in the colorful streets. Those images become some of the favorites in the final gallery.

FAQ

Do you know Tamarindo well? Extremely. This beach has been part of our home turf for over ten years and it is one of the places we know better than almost anywhere else in Costa Rica.

Is Tamarindo good for a big wedding or better for elopements? Both. That is the beauty of it. The infrastructure supports 100+ guest celebrations, and the empty stretches near the estuary are perfect for intimate two person elopements.

When is the best time of year for a Tamarindo wedding? December to April guarantees dry weather and the most spectacular sunsets. May, June and November offer softer light, lush green landscapes and better rates.

Where Weddings Happen in Tamarindo

Beachfront hotels: Tamarindo Diria, Capitán Suizo and Jardín del Edén host beautiful ceremonies with easy access to the sand.

Private villas: the hills above Tamarindo hold a growing collection of luxury rental villas with ocean views. Perfect for weddings of 20 to 60 guests who want privacy plus proximity to town.

The beach itself: legal or symbolic ceremonies on the sand require simple coordination with your planner. We know exactly where along the beach to place your arch for the best sunset alignment by month.

Restaurants for receptions: Pangas Beach Club, El Vaquero and Nogui's have hosted memorable dinners for our couples.
