El Mangroove

Wedding Photographer

El Mangroove is the boutique secret of Papagayo Bay. Contemporary Costa Rican design, a beach lined with mangroves and old trees, and an intimacy no mega resort can copy.

Weddings here feel like taking over a beautiful friend's beach house, with everyone you love inside it.

Why We Love Photographing Here

The trees. The beachfront at El Mangroove is shaded by sculptural old growth trees that create natural frames and dappled light no studio could ever recreate. Add the hotel's minimal design and the calm bay, and every image comes out looking effortlessly editorial.

The Light Guide

  • Morning: minimal, bright suites for clean getting ready images.

  • Afternoon: the tree line filters the harsh Guanacaste sun, so even 3 pm light is workable here, rare for a beach venue.

  • Sunset: the bay faces west across calm water toward the peninsula. Soft pastels rather than fire, elegant and romantic.

  • Night: the hotel's fire pits and string lit event spaces are made for warm, intimate reception photos.

Planning Your Photography Timeline

El Mangroove's compact footprint is a photographer's gift: no transfers, no lost time. That means more coverage of real moments and a relaxed timeline for you. We recommend ceremony at 4:30 pm, couple session through golden hour under the trees and at the water line, then straight into the celebration.

FAQ

How is El Mangroove different from the big Papagayo resorts? Scale and soul. It is a boutique property, so your wedding takes center stage rather than sharing space with hundreds of other guests.

Is the beach good for photos even at midday? Better than most. The mature trees along the beachfront filter the light beautifully at almost every hour.

Do you photograph welcome dinners here too? Yes, and we recommend it. The hotel's restaurant and fire pit spaces at night are stunning.
